Does Dual Extrusion work?

I know we've all been struggling just to get a single extruder to print properly, but has anyone had a chance to try the dual extrusion setup? I think with mine there is an issue with the pneumatic connections, filament cannot go through the openings.

It just sits there and grinds up my filament trying to get it into and out of the splitter.

Just curious if anyone was able to get it to work.

I tried it once. It was a jam-fest. Now that I have a single extruder printing (when it doesn't thermal runaway) I was working on the issue. I broke one of the couplers and now I don't have another one that fits the nuts. I might look at it again in the future if I can find another coupler.

That said, search AliExpress or Banggood for "TriangleLabs". I can't remember which one has their store. You can see we have there product but somehow it's different. I was going to write up a post on this but just didn't get around to it since all the other troubles.

Update, I found another coupling so I have a set of three. I had to use an old extruder on my second extruder so I could "borrow" the coupler from it. Now I have three. I think to get this working will require gluing the nuts in so they don't spin as well as being super precise about the length of the tubing that is used in the 'y'.

Did anyone else get a set of these brass concave rings and this thing that looks like it screws into the hotend instead of the coupler? The rings seem like they fit perfectly into the 'y' piece. They're not in the instructions. I've been trying to dig up some documentation on the one sold by TriangleLabs to see if this is a modified version and to get a second idea of how it's supposed to be set up.

@Michael G https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32770576556.html

Scroll towards the middle of the page and they have instructions on putting it together!

I tried it and it actually worked for a little bit, then my printer went nuts and threw my print off the bed. I then tried the direct attachment of the splitter and that does not work at all. Now my printer is all jammed up and I just don't have the mental strength to keep messing with it.

@Pritesh I SHOULD HAVE ZOOMED IN ON THE PICTURES!!! IT ALL MAKES SENSE!!!

So I built the 'y' dealie as they show in the pictures. I watched their video too. I've assembled mine so that the bottom of the 'y' uses the screw attachment so it plugs directly into the top of the hotend. I'm concerned that I don't have the tubing just the right length, but if this kinda works I'll just order another meter or two of capricon tubing.

Anyhow, I did a test. I fed the left, E1, extruder till it came out of the nozzle. Next I took the E2 extruder and pushed the filament til it just entered the 'y'. I then backed it out 100mm. I then fed the other extruder in 100mm. It changed colors! I then backed E2 out 100mm and when it completed I went forward with 100mm on E1. It changed back!!!

I'm going to slice the multi-color benchy and test it out! Wish me luck!
