Recycling PLA filament

Hello,

I backed the Axis 3D Kickstarter a few months ago, and while I'm waiting for it to be delivered in ~April-May time (it'll be my 1st 3D printer!) I've been ding some research about filament. I live in the East Riding of Yorkshire, and my council does not collect PLA for recycling / composting. What's the best way to responsibly dispose of it - e.g. failed prints etc?

If there's no good way to do so, are there any alternative filaments that are easier to responsibly dispose of at the end of their useful life?

Thanks for backing!

Recycling failed parts is currently quite difficult with very few companies offering the service. PLA to my knowledge is currently the most environmentally friendly material.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the advice!

I guess it's a waiting game for either a company to offer the service, or for an affordable filament extruder then?

@Starbeamrainbowlabs Filabot is currently the best option in this space in my opinion, although their solutions are quite pricey. https://www.filabot.com/products/terracycle-zero-waste-boxes
