Temp fluctuations and now no heating.

Hi everyone. I had a couple of print fails where the printer just stopped. Then I noticed temperature fluctuations on the nozzle and bed. Now nothing is heating and the temperature is reading 0 for the current bed and nozzle temperature. Looks like something has failed can anyone point me in the right direction?

Anyone? My first thought was a power issue but the 0 reading at room temperature makes my think it's some sort of control issue. Is it possible that there is a glitch in the firmware or is does the fact that it looks like a progressive failure point to a component going down, possibly on the control board? When you set it to print all the target temperatures come up on the screen OK but nothing heats up.

Very likely an issue with the thermistor. Try removing it from the heated bed or hotend and reinsert. If that doesn't work the thermistor may need replacing. If you're still within the 1 year warranty we can get one out to you to, just email us at info@makertech3d.com.

Well I was getting 0 readings on both hot ends (only using numver 1) and the bed for ambient. Turned it on today and they read about right. Tried to run a test print but it hung up during the bed level check and looked like it was having trouble maintaining the extruder temperature. So I stopped the print but the extruder temp got stuck when cooling. It did actually seem hot.Turned off and restarted, all temps showing 0 ambient. Removed and refitted the hot end thermistor. Turned back on, all ambient temperatures OK. Tried a pre heat to 200. According to the screen it got stuck around 196.

Check that there's proper cable relief, so when the tool head is moving the thermistor at the contact point isn't and is fixed further up the cable. That should give a more reliable temp reading.

Also check that there's a gap between the heater block and heatsink, the hotend should easily be able to reach temps of up to around 250C.
