Still some problems: broken card slot, filament sensor, pinched cables etc

in Proforge 3 3D Printing

Hello everyone,

somehow I'm coming to the conclusion that the PF3 is not a mature product. After the upgrades I was hoping to get something more reliable product.

But the problems still don't stop there, after 30-40 prints it continues:

- SD card is not always recognized, loose contact and stopped several times the prints after loosing contact

- filament sensor don't work, the printer don't stop when the material is out

- cable routing with the housing: the extruder cables have already been pinched twice by the idler pulleys

- prints have been stopped several times due to thermal runaways

Unfortunately, I am not a firmware programmer and was just hoping for a relatively reliable product.

Are upgrades still worth it or is it hopeless?

I'm still having various issues. Current one is it will get about half an hour into a bench and the filament jams causing the ptfe tube between the extruder and the hotend to buckle and it then jams that space with filament.

It's where the benches little cabin starts and I'm guessing it's got to do with retraction or something.

Does and have any idea what it might be or could point me in the right direction?

I agree with wakening it was good fun making it but if you're not hot on the firmware it's a pig.

The jam looks similar to what I experience. I could fix it, at least it has been working for the last 2 days. Check here: https://www.forum.makertech3d.com/forum/proofrge-3-general-discussion/just-delivered

You can use the same thermistor and heater cartridge for the Dragon so no firmware changes needed.

You only need to cut a bit of material off the fan shroud or print the one I uploaded. It's in the comments of the screaming printer post linked above.
